Thank you for putting your trust in me and purchasing this guide. There is no single “right way” to teach a cookie class. However, there are some good practices and pitfalls to avoid. This is where I come in—to share with you my experiences, and to give you the best chance at teaching classes YOU enjoy while ensuring that they are also loved by your attendees. The contents (particularly products) of this guide are geared toward a United States audience, but concepts can be applied globally.
We started writing this guide in early 2019 but set it aside for the remainder of the year as our priorities shifted. Now, in May 2020 (July 2020 now as we're releasing this...), many of us around the globe are sheltering-in-place and physical distancing in response to COVID-19. With these new developments, I also wanted to share my resources for live-streaming and video cookie decorating classes; a process quite different from teaching in-person, but can be every bit as enjoyable for all parties involved.
While this guide will cover the basics of virtual cookie decorating classes, it does NOT walk you through the step-by-step set up for each technology stack. We all have varying equipment, and software updates happen often, offering this would have me chasing my own tail. However, armed with Google at your fingertips, I can point you in the right direction and you’ll have what you need to go the rest of the way.
